Enhancement patch adding the following make process improvements.

1. The attached patch adds the DESTDIR usage to the docs Makefile so that
staging directories can be used.

2. Changing g++) to *g++) in the case statements allows compilers like
i686-pc-linux-gnu-g++ to still be treated as g++ compilers. I had troubles
the bug (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71678) because of the way
Gentoo is currently (slowly) moving to being cross-compile compatible.
