Dear Dr. Cummings and everybody else,
it may be possible to keep old Range object in tact. Instead, add
another boolean variable _unsafe to it. By default, _unsafe, must be
false.
And derive a class _XRange that will initialize the unsafe variable. And
export operator Range() that will return a compatiable but extended
range object .
