POST DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Scientific Computation Research Center
Position to be filled as soon as possible
September 2005
Position Description
• Software engineering leadership role (including design,
implementation, maintenance, debugging and documentation, etc.) in one
or more research areas in the Scientific Computation Research Center.
• Development and maintenance of the technical expertise required to
perform original research both through self-direction and as a part of a
research team.
• Tailor research efforts to the needs of sponsors.
• Ability to work closely with the appropriate technical representatives
to understand their research and algorithm needs.
• Publish results of their research in technical journals.
Position Qualifications
• Ph.D. in appropriate area of computer science (CS), computational
science & engineering (CSE), or engineering.
• Advanced algorithm & programming techniques including program
reliability & efficiency, generic programming, design patterns, parallel
programming, etc.
• Specific background in parallel scientific & engineering computations.
Specific Qualifications
A full-time research position is available in the Scientific
Computation Research Center. The successful applicant will be required to:
• Perform research on the adaptive multiscale methods including discrete
to continuum scale linking.
• Perform research on the development of parallel adaptive finite
element techniques.
• Develop and document software.
• Contribute to technical publications.
• Have a working knowledge of C, C++, FORTRAN programming languages and
parallel processing.
