PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
The 15th IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing
(HiPC 2008), to be held in Bangalore, India, during December 17-20,
2008, will serve as a forum for presenting current work by researchers
from around the world as well as to highlight activities in Asia, in
the area of high performance computing.

Contributed Papers:
The technical program will consist of 46 contributed papers chosen
from 317 submissions from 27 countries. The papers will be presented
in 8 sessions.
Student Research Symposium:
HiPC 2008 will feature the first student research symposium on High
Performance Computing (HPC) on Wednesday, December 17th, 2008, aimed
at stimulating and fostering student research, and providing an
international forum to highlight student research accomplishments. The
one-day symposium will feature brief presentations by student authors
on their research, followed by a poster exhibit, and will be followed
by a reception and industry-student mixer. For further details, see

Workshops:
HiPC will host 5 workshops on Wednesday, December 17, 2008.

Tutorials:
The meeting will feature two tutorials that will be presented on
Wednesday, December 17, 2008, and will be open to HiPC attendees.

* Hadoop - Delivering petabyte scale computing and storage on
commodity hardware
Presenters: Yahoo Bangalore Cloud Computing Team
User/Industry Symposium on HPC Technologies, Applications &
Experience:
The symposium will bring together providers and users of HPC to
provide a forum for presenting the state-of-the-art in HPC platforms
and technologies, for discussing best practices and for exchanging
experiences. The symposium will feature plenary presentations and a
panel discussion on Cloud Computing, along with technical sessions on
Data Center Management, Data Center Storage Solutions, Web Application
Development, and Scientific Application Development with MPI. For
