In this context, it may be interesting to notice (and possibly use) the
results of the recent threads on RNGs in sci.math.num-analysis, where
first sombody famous in the RNG world posted C macros with fast RNGs, then
somebody else posted a C++ version that, after compilation with egcs, was
faster than the C macros.
