I am interested in what object-oriented programming
support is available in the leading numerical analysis
programming envirionments, i.e. MatLab, IDL, PV-Wave,
etc. Both MathWorks and Research Systems are
advertising OO features in their 5.0 releases; Research
Systems is more specific in spelling out what IDL 5.0
has. I also just visited the Visual Numerics page to
look at PV-Wave, and was excited by what I saw; the
drive to use Web technology such as VRML and Java with
PV-Wave. However, it was not clear to me whether
PV-Wave itself has any object-oriented features.

I realize these developments are relatively new, but I
would think some (oo, numerical) experts in the
industry would have looked into this by now. I would
     appreciate any information about evaluations/critical
reviews of the object-oriented features of these
     packages.
