announcement of version 1.0 of
a library for finite volume applications
=======================================================
We like to announce the first public version of our
library for finite volume applications (named MOUSE).
MOUSE is free software under the terms of the
GNU General Public Licence.
General purpose:
MOUSE is an object oriented framework for finite volume
computations on unstructured grids. It serves as a
development library, as well as a ready to use
application.
At the Institute of Combustion and Gas Dynamics at the
University of Duisburg in Germany, we use this library
for CFD applications.
Language / Programming:
MOUSE is written in C++ and it has a GUI, which has been
written, using TrollTech's Qt library.
Background:
Major goal of MOUSE is to join development and programming
efforts and to share them among work-groups and beyond.
Numerics are based on previous experiences in CFD and
especially on unstructured methods at IVG.
State of Version 1.0 and Outlook:
MOUSE 1.0 features a very basic toolbox for data-handling,
explicit computations, pre- and post- processing on
unstructured and hybrid grids. The extent of MOUSE 1.0
does not yet reveal all numerical techniques previously
developed at IVG. Further versions are expected soon. Current
developments include more sophisticated grid gen/adapt
techniques, treatment of discontinuities, 3D-version, AMR
and chimera-type overset grids, multigrid, distributed-mem
parallel version and several CFD-applications. Foreign
developments on any application are welcome.
For details of the current version, please refer to the MOUSE

Any feedback or questions are welcome. Please mail to
